It is evident that there is an increasing demand to show the financial impact of expenditures that invest in people, improvement and HR initiatives. There has always been a concern over the value of programs, projects and all organizational improvement efforts and now the definition of value includes financial impact. A significant component to ensure value and impact is the alignment of HR initiatives to the business measures and goals.

This workshop demonstrates the skills to set objectives to show impact of all types of HR initiatives and performance improvement programs. Although the need objectives may seem obvious their value and role are much broader than most people think. In this workshop we cover why we need specific, measurable program objectives categorized at different levels. We examine the benefits of objectives from many perspectives and how they align programs to the business.

After this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the origin of objectives
  • Describe the importance of developing objectives beyond reaction objectives
  • Construct objectives at multiple levels for major programs
  • Know how to align HR to the business measures - impact
  • Explain how alignment to business measures is achieved
  • Plan next steps to Measure the Success of HR programs and projects
